RRSMS – Behind the Scenes

Behind the scenes of Rock & Roll Saved My Soul, there are so many people working hard to make it all that you see, myself included.

But I would like to introduce you to some of the people who have taken the time to make everything possible. Here I asked them a couple of questions about RRSMS and what it means to them and the answers are just absolutely touching! We have people from promotions, to social media, and even one of the owners who took the time to answer my questions, my own at the very end.

Kate Marie Robbins (Creator)

– Name: Kate Marie Robbins
– What you do at RRSMS: Founder, blogger, web designer, editor, formatter, graphic designer (I do a lot)

Q: When someone mentions Rock & Roll Saved My Soul, what first comes to mind?

A: An amazing community of people

Q: When you created RRSMS, what did you think it would be like? Is it different than that or is it similar?

A: I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started it. I wasn’t sure where it would go or what it would amount to. What happened was far better than I ever could have imagined.

Q: What does RRSMS and its community mean to you personally?

A: RRSMS is my world, my heart, and my soul. It has become something exponentially epic. Words cannot describe the feeling I get from being a part of the community. It isn’t about me (as a founder), it’s about everyone that’s come together to help make it what it’s become. All of the supporters, authors, and volunteers have made it what it is. Without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today. RRSMS is where I need to be, it was what I was born to do.

Q: Have you written a piece for any of their anthologies? If so, which ones?

A: I have pieces in most of the anthologies. I try to put something into each one, even if it’s just the introduction to the anthology. As of right now, I have pieces in: Rock & Roll Saved My Soul Volume One and Two, Concert Experience, Fighting Chance, Random Acts of Kindness, one of the Authors Against Bullying anthologies (forthcoming) and the first volume of Rescue Me.

Q: What would you like to say to all the readers, volunteers, and other creators of RRSMS?

A: I would like to express my undying gratitude and appreciation for everything that everyone does. It’s been a long journey thus far and I couldn’t have gotten to where I am today without all of the people who have helped me.

Q: When you started to volunteer your time to RRSMS, what did you think it would be like? Is it different than that or is it similar?

A: When I first started volunteering I didn’t think that I would be this involved where I would be helping run social media sites, I was more in the background. But I enjoy how I get to help make RRSMS something big and that I get to continue to watch it grow.

Q: What does RRSMS and its community mean to you personally?

Renee Jean

– Name: Renee Jean

– What you do at RRSMS: I am the creator of partner series Rescue Me – Animal Anthology and do my best to help with events.

Q: When someone mentions Rock & Roll Saved My Soul, what first comes to mind?

A: For me it is the inspiration that the series has given me. Because Kate created this series I was able to have the vision and drive to create Rescue Me.

Q: When you started to volunteer your time to RRSMS, what did you think it would be like? Is it different than that or is it similar?

A: I am slightly different from most that volunteer because I don’t know how to do most of the things associated with social media marketing so I help as much as possible with events and work to promote by sharing when books are being released. Rescue Me is my biggest focus with RRSMS.

Q: What does RRSMS and its community mean to you personally?

A: It is made

up of friends and people that feel the same way I do about giving back to the community. We may not live in the same places or have ever met in person but the members are family to me and we see the community as a global one. It is a world we want to share our talents with in order to improve what we see around us.

Q: Have you written a piece for any of their anthologies? If so, which ones?

A: I have been a part of a few. I had a story in the Concert edition, Random Acts of Kindness and the other partner series Authors Against Bullying

Q: Would you recommend writing and donating time to help with the community?

A:  Why or why not? I am a huge advocate to giving back so for me it isn’t even a question I think everyone should be a part of a charity at some point and RRSMS is one of the best ways I have found to give back.

Catching Up, Yet Again

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know it’s been awhile and I’m hoping that doesn’t happen again, but life gets in the way. We authors get so caught up with things like work, relationships, WRITING. Yes, even that has kept me from updating this site.

To catch up on a few things:

– Hearts on Fire Editing is temporarily closed. I won’t be doing until I feel like I can fit it into my schedule and be able to get it back to the author in a timely manner. I’ve already had a few people ask me to continue going, but I can’t at the risk of it not being done soon enough.

– The Dead Speak is FINALLY finished and is available for preorder! Are you excited for this book? I know I am excited to see Ophelia take her first steps in the real world and see how far she goes.

– The Sinned Drown is under way already! Kind of, I mean, I’m only on chapter one, but the prologue is done too, so that’s a start, right?

– Authors Against Bullying is coming along, slowly, but still coming along. It does take time to put these things together and we’ve had to move the release date a few times, but it’s set for the 6th! I’ll have a collection of short stories coming out with Rock & Roll Saved My Soul shortly after AAB V2 and I have yet to choose a charity for them as it’s a difficult decision for me. I will announce it as soon as I know more about it though!

– I feel like there was something else that I was going to put here, but now I can’t remember. Hmm… Okay then.

Promotions

So one important thing about being an indie author is promotions. You are everything when you’re an indie author. You write, promote, market, publish, review edits, look for a cover artist, and everything like that. Promotions are important.

In this endeavor, I am helping people with their promotions by posting them on my author page and my blog here. Because of this, not all of my posts will be all about me and my writing and advice here!

So, here is one of my promotional posts! Be sure to check out this rising indie author, Zara Elise Thelms!

Getting Back to Writing

So, there have been quite a few things that have pulled me away from writing and blogging more often, but I’m here to tell you that I’m going to try my best to get back to making on blog post a day AND writing a little a day (or at least editing). It’s good for me to get back into that daily routine and it’s good for you guys to read my blog posts and get advice on things.

If you know that you’re not going to be able to write for a while, please at least think about what you want to write about the next time you’re on a computer. It will help you gather your thoughts before you sit down and may even help your fords flow better! I know that it helps me to think about it first. Because of this, I have been able to put 1,000 words onto my work in progress and it’s only 10:15 AM.

I love writing and I love blogging. I love giving new and old authors alike advice on things that they request and I’m thankful for them all. I’m thankful for each and every like they give me and I’m thankful that I can help anyone. That’s my only goal here – to help and inspire – and as long as I do that, I feel like my mission is accomplished. I will be more than happy to get back to it!

Please expect more posts on authors, books, and messages from some of my favorite authors and people who support me. All over promotions can be requested in the Promotion Request tab at the top menu!

Thank you!

Skye Hegyes

Dragons, wolves, and sharp objects are commonplace in Skye Hegyes’s home in North Carolina. She spends most of her time between writing and working. When not doing either of these things, you may find her making crafts or adventuring with her family, which consists of her husband, two daughters, two birds, and three cats… and a partridge in a pear tree…

My first novel, Puck’s Choice, is the first in a series I’m working on and came out late last year (2014). I’m currently editing book two, Jenna’s Story, for release late this year. Before it’s release, I self-published a short story called “Chiller” and a short story collection called “Short Story Smash”. The short story collection was based of a writing challenge I made for myself back in 2010 where I wrote a short story a week to end up with fifty-one short stories and one poem/song.

I love writing romance tales with hints of fantasy and paranormal. Recently, I’ve also picked up ghost-writing, which has been fun and challenging all at once.

While I love chatting with people, I’m horrible at starting conversations. I just don’t know anything interesting to talk about although once a conversation is started, I have no problems continuing it. That said, check out any of my links and feel free to contact me.

Callie C. Colbert

Born and raised in Kansas, Callie C. Colbert developed an obsessive love for writing as a child. That obsession has continued throughout her life, leading her to write poetry, song lyrics, short stories, books, and a novel.

Callie is a published poet and has also sold the rights to some of her song lyrics. She has earned awards for other writing ventures, and has also written for Yahoo Voices. Her song lyrics and poetry are available for purchase.

During an interview, Callie was asked how and why she picked the ‘Christian-paranormal’ genre, as it appears to be an oxymoron. She responded, “I didn’t pick the genre. It picked me.”

She currently has three books available on Amazon: ‘Graze the Night’ (Psychological/paranormal thriller), ‘The Tibuens: Lexie’s Journey, Book I’ (Christian-paranormal), and ‘Threads of Reality: Lexie’s Journey, Book II’ (Christian-paranormal/horror).
All three books will be available in paperback at a later date.

When she isn’t working in home health or writing, Callie enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Some of her hobbies include reading, cooking, crafting, and going for long rides in the country. Her favorite movie genres are horror, the paranormal, and psychological thrillers. She also likes to watch anything in the Christian and spiritual realm.

Callie lives by the philosophy “God first, family and friends second, and writing third. Everything else will fall into place.” She adds, “writing is not only a gift, it’s a privilege. If I can touch even one person with my words, then I have done what I set out to do.”

B.E. McLaughlin

Languish, by B.E. McLaughlin is a mystery, thriller novel that has LGBT themes within it. The novel follows two mothers in search of their kidnapped daughter, and tests the strength of their love, as well as the mental and physical strain one can take within a given amount of time.

Languish was released on the 1st of January this year, and I am very excited about its progress, much more excited for my following novels and the path that this career will lead me.

When asked about her current WIP, this was her response –
My current WIP is the first of a trilogy that started from a question of “What will humans do for the possibility of money, cold hard cash in their hands?” You’re Next: the Descent, is a horror, thriller, dystopian piece that questions society and how well it is truly run.

But I love to read all types of books, when my University schedule allows for me to. 18 books this semester doesn’t seem like a lot until it is all piled up on top of you. Haha.

I am hoping to have my next novel out by mid summer, or late spring if I am lucky.
